Quality + Value: Our US Wings Current Issue A-2 is based on the latest USAF A-2 pattern (which is an update of the "second generation" A-2s issued in 1987). Although it features a number of functional & comfort upgrades, this jacket is still unmistakably an A-2, a classic jacket originally adopted by the USAAF back in 1931.
The current issue pattern includes side-entry handwarmer pockets (the first military-issue A-2 to include this as a standard feature), two inside wallet pockets, an interior double slotted pen/pencil pocket, underarm gussets for freedom of movement, and side panels for a more comfortable fit. Other features include a premium dark brown goatskin shell, two front snap-flapped cargo pockets, a snap-down collar (which secures the collar against prop or jet wash — or just a strong wind), an exterior windflap that conceals the solid antiqued brass zipper beneath it, a one piece back, knit cuffs & waistband, shoulder epaulets, and a poly-twill lining.

It features a shell made from ultra luxurious & lightweight New Zealand lambskin, a truly upscale leather that is noticeably lighter than goatskin and considerably lighter than cowhide. You really must wear this jacket to fully appreciate just how supple and lightweight the leather is! However, it still retains all the classic A-2 features, including a snap-down collar, throat latch, two front cargo pockets with side-entry handwarmers, one interior pocket, a windflap over an antiqued brass zipper, shoulder epaulets, knit cuffs & waistband, and a silky nylon lining. It's the ideal warm weather jacket, or layer it over a sweater when the temperature turns chilly. It's authentic enough to appeal to pilots & aviation enthusiasts, but refined & upscale enough to appeal to executives and VIPs! WWII Vintage Goatskin A-2

 Limited Edition! This outstanding A-2 is made from a recently discovered supply of mid-1940s vintage medium brown goatskin leather. This leather is the same type of goatskin used in WWII A-2s (although horsehide was the original spec leather, many WWII A-2s were produced in goatskin and cowhide by various manufacturers) and the graining & creasing of this vintage leather adds character to the overall jacket. And unlike the dark brown color of modern A-2s, the color of our Limited Edition A-2 is medium brown, a color prevalent during WWII. All in all, this is an A-2 that any AAF pilot would be proud to wear!
Other features include a snap-down collar, epaulets, two front cargo pockets (which, like the WWII A-2, does not include side-entry handwarmers), one piece back, throat latch, 100% cotton lining, and knit cuffs & waistband. The leather has a suppleness that rivals lambskin (while still retaining the inherent durability of goatskin) and is a bit lighter in weight than our standard USAF Goatskin A-2, making this the ideal 3 season jacket. The authentic details & the pedigree of the leather makes our Limited Edition A-2 the perfect jacket to adorn with your favorite WWII-era patches, and its one piece back makes it the ideal canvas for customizing with hand-painted "nose art."
